All Saints Day

All Saints’ Day is what all Polish people would do today. I think. I haven’t been living in Poland since 2006 so I guess I can’t really say what Polish people do or don’t anymore.

Halloween is something that some Polish would have done yesterday.

As a child I enjoyed Anderzejki* party which is very similar idea to Halloween other than there is no treated no dressing and it is celebrated at the end of November. Yes, very similar indeed.

Now I feel a bit nostalgic about it all. I would and the same time I would not go back in time to being 9. I would do try to get the party going. I would like to invite few open minded people and run few games and drinks one dark miserable November evening. Would I made people dress up? No but I would like them to strip of their age a bit and have just fun.

We wouldn’t be asking will we marry or how many children would we have… the questions should be more morbid and adequate to the time and our adult life we currently living in: when will I pay off the mortgage, will I get the mortgage… what age kids will move out and what age will they move in again?

*Andrzejki, (AI generated info) celebrated on November 29th, is a traditional Polish holiday honoring St. Andrew. It features fortune-telling customs, particularly for young women seeking insight into their future, especially marriage prospects. Parties include games, wax pouring, and symbolic rituals, blending folklore with social celebration in Polish culture.
