University of Galway campus

Dry pastel on a grey A2 paper. The part of the Cityscapes series.

The process

A series of ink and colored pencil sketches exploring the landscape details.

These drawings study the natural shape of the land and how the university buildings sit within the landscape.

This cityscape crafted in pastel as a signature entry for a 2026 art competition, designed to showcase the ethereal interplay of light and stone across the University of Galway.

Nestled where the River Corrib meets the city, the University of Galway campus is defined by its serene waterways. The O’Donoghue Centre, a repurposed industrial mill, stands as a stunning focal point. This award-winning theater harmonizes historic limestone with modern glass, reflecting the rhythmic flow of the surrounding canals.
